Five Jane McGrath Roses were planted at the Botanic Gardens today, a day after what would have been Mrs McGrath’s 50th birthday.
Mayor Rod Kendall and McGrath Foundation breast cancer nurses Monica Jessop and Susan Munro assisted to plant the roses, which are expected to flower in November.
“For anyone who has connections with anyone with breast cancer, it’s a great place to come and reflect,” Mrs Jessop said.
Councillor Kendall said the roses, which are planted in the David Jones Memorial Garden, offer a connection between Wagga and the Jane McGrath Foundation.
“We wanted to recognise the importance of the nurses in the community and the job they do,” he said.
