A service station attendant has fought off his knife-wielding attackers in a brazen attempted armed robbery on Wednesday night.

Two offenders armed themselves with knives and concealed their faces before they entered the Tobruk Street service station around 7.45pm.
The man behind the counter was threatened by the two bandits before one of them attacked him.
He was assaulted in the melee but was able to fight them off.
The two men left the store empty-handed and the attendant, who was not injured in the attempted robbery, was able to raise the alarm.
A crime scene has been established at the Ashmont premises and it will be further examined by specialist officers.
