Index Linked was the $5.00 equal favourite with Messene until he was scratched on Wednesday morning.
It leaves Messene as the outright favourite at $3.20 with TAB.
With the scratchings of Faust and Index Linked, first emergency Mr Sommerville has gained a start and the field is down to 15 runners.
Wagga trainer Trevor Sutherland has decided to scratch Mr Sommerville from the Hillis Motor Group Benchmark 65 Handicap (1600m) on Thursday in favour of the Cup.
