WAGGA smokers will be slugged by a tobacco tax surge which will see a packet of 25 cigarettes cost more than $40 by 2020, up from around $25 today.

The policy, adopted from Labor in Tuesday’s federal budget, will see cigarette taxes increase by 12.5 per cent each year over the next four years.
“They’re just blasting the smokers with cuts because they know we’re addicted,” Wagga smoker of five-years Dylan Forbes said.
“It’s completely unfair.”
