The 228-game AFL veteran should know as he continues his football roadshow on Saturday with a return to his home club Osborne.

Since retiring from the AFL at the end of last season, Schneider has played at Osborne, out to Barellan, Tasmania and then Coolamon as part of a series of guest appearances.

He will play against Holbrook for Osborne on Saturday, then join Jayden Kotzur at Thurgoona for a game before settling into the Victorian amateur season with Beaumaris.

Schneider said he has had a ball playing at different country clubs and hopes it has been a win-win for everyone.

“It has. Last week the club made 30 grand just by organising it and having a sportsmen’s night. Hopefully Coolamon do alright out of it. I know Barellan went okay out of it as well,” Schneider said on Sunday after lining up for Coolamon.

“That’s what I want to do, give a bit back in and really push the junior side of it and see kids run around and have a bit of fun.

“If a community like this doesn’t have footy then what does a town get together for. Nothing. So if I can help in anyway then I’m happy to do that.

“I’m having a ball.”

Schneider was overwhelmed by the number of juniors at Kindra Park on Sunday for same day football.

“I’ve done Osborne, Barellan, Tasmania last week. Today blew me away out here with the juniors,” he said.

“I couldn’t get over how many juniors were out here. For country footy, that’s fantastic. Seven different age groups, it was unbelievable.

“That’s what country footy is all about and that’s how communities exist with stuff like that so to see that was great and to get over there and mingle with the kids was good and that’s what it’s all about for me.”

Schneider has been among the goals in his appearances and had 15 disposals and kicked 1.3 for Coolamon in their 11-point loss to Griffith last Sunday.

Schneider enjoyed the appearance for the Hoppers and gave credit to two-time Jim Quinn Medallist, Guy Orton, for the job he did on him.

“It was a good game. Griffith are a really good team, they control the ball really well. Coolamon are a very young team as well, they have some good kids out there and it was a good game,” Schneider said.

“The bloke on me (Orton) was a very good player. He was strong, he played well and it come down right to the wire.”

Schneider said close attention from the opposition is all part of the game.

“That’s fine, I expect that,” he said.

“When you play forward, you have got a player on you all the time anyway so that’s part of it and you have just got to deal with it.”
