Conners hasn’t been part of the carnival since winning the Guineas with Astrolarb in 1992.

However, he’ll return with the top weight in the Wagga Town Plate (1200m), Decision Time.

Despite being lugged with 61 kilograms, Connors will line up Decision Time.

“I’m restricted with that races I have got to run him in Sydney and I was hoping his wasn’t going to get 61 (kilograms), but he has to because of the rules.”

One issue, however, is who will ride the eight-year-old.

Connors said he had made a dozen calls but is yet to lock in a jockey.

Decision Time hasn’t won since August but is the class runner on the field.

He is coming off a last placed effort at Randwick but Connors has been pleased with his form in harder races than Thursday’s.

“He has had a bit of bad luck,” Connors said.

“In his last start he was ridden bad and before that he was going well. I am quite happy with the horse.”

Connors doesn’t believe the race is overly strong and was expecting more horses from Sydney stables to be among the field.

“On paper, looking at the form, it doesn’t look an overly strong race,” he said.

Draws for all races over the carnival will be released on Tuesday.
