The Wanderers proved to be no match for University of NSW at David Phillips Complex on Saturday, going down 4-1.
After conceding two early goals, the Wanderers were able to get one back with Scott Dunn converted from the penalty.
Trailing by one at half-time, two quick goals in the second half ended any chance of a comeback.
Despite having a number of goals denied in the clash, coach Andrew Douglas didn’t think the team showed its usual vigour.
“It was a hard day at the office," Douglas said. “It looked flat to me from the start and we probably lacked discipline on the field and composure.”
The team must now regroup ahead of its sixth round FFA Cup clash with Gladesville Ryde Magic at Gissing Oval on Wednesday.
Douglas is expecting a big challenge against the Premier League 3 team.
“We have a short turn around to correct things against a higher ranked division opponent,” he said.
After not picking up any injuries on Saturday, Douglas expects to head into the clash close to full strength.
Only Caylum Barber is unavailable through injury.
While both first grade and the under 20 team suffered losses on Saturday, the Wanderers did have something to celebrate as the under 18 team scored its first ever win.
