2.15pm: Wagga police duty officer, Inspector Andrew Spliet, has confirmed the vehicle crashed into several trees before coming to rest on its roof.
No further details on the man’s identity have yet emerged.
The road remains closed in both directions.
1.45pm: Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in the Riverina region this morning.
Just after 8am (Saturday 30 April 2016), police were contacted after a vehicle was found on its roof in bushland off Mary Gilmore Way, about 30km from Coolamon.
It appears the vehicle left the roadway and crashed, catching alight.
Whilst the driver has not yet been formally identified, it’s believed he is a 22-year-old from a town near the Victorian border.
Officers from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
12pm: A NSW Ambulance spokesman confirmed they responded to reports of a crash about 8.30am.
The road remains closed.
11am: A serious accident has closed Mary Gilmore Road near Ariah Park.
The road was closed in both directions about 10.45 due to a car accident.
There is no access to Coolamon via Mary Gilmore Road from Burley Griffin Way.
