The Wagga club has been in top form to start the season, with three impressive wins from as many games, while Reddies are still searching for their first win.
However they’ve been forced to make a raft of changes to their forward pack.
They will have almost a new front row with Jock Munro still struggling with a hamstring issue, Harry Cook out with a back complaint and James Daley unavailable.
Coming in to replace the experienced heads are Alex Hunt, who will make his first grade debut, and Tom Dunstan, who will start for the first time since making the switch from Ag College, and Chris Murray.
Sam Palmer is also unavailable with Ollie Connell coming back into the second row while Matt Meggison will returning to the starting team for the first time this season
With so many changes in the forwards, Mitchell is expecting his team to be more vulnerable.
“The forwards would be our weakness compared to recent weeks,” Mitchell said.
“CSU are a bit bogeyish for us and they seem to play better when they play us.”
Mitchell has decided against changes to the back line who had a field day against Albury last week.
It means captain Tim Corcoran and representative fullback Steve Tracey remain in second grade for at least another week.
CSU face another big test to secure their maiden win of the season at Conolly Rugby Complex.
Coach Paul Spain wants his team to remain aggressive against the ladder leaders.
“It’s a big challenge, but we understand what lies ahead of us,” Spain said.
“They’ve been playing extremely well and we have been working on not only what Waratahs strengths are but extenuating our strengths, playing in a positive manner and not getting all defensive.
“We still have to continue to attack and play what we are good at.”
Spain believes Waratahs speed at the breakdown is something his team needs to get on top of and is wary forecast inclement weather could play into his opponents hands in the set piece.
With Andrew Dutton struggling with a shoulder injury, the Reddies have changed their playmaker’s for the clash.
Oscar Ramsden will move back into the five-eighth role after playing the role for most of the game against Tumut
“Oscar did a great job when Andrew went off and have no doubt he will do another excellent job,” Spain said.
“He is very confident player, has a good kicking game and in wet conditions that could be off assistance.”
