Wagga has been declared drought stricken after months of low rainfall. Wagga Rural Lands Protection Board Secretary, Mr Tony Pallett said the drought could not have come at a worse time.
Premier Nick Greiner has announced an early NSW election and cancelled a planned visit to Wagga to reopen the Murrumbidgee Flour Mill and attend the Wagga Gold Cup race meeting.
World War I veteran, Mr Ted Drake who was also the first school captain at Wagga High School in 1916 attended a morning tea at the school hosted by principal, Mr Joe Allan.
