The competition, which showcases personal discovery, growth and development in young women, celebrated the launch of the quest at the Mercure.
Sashes and badges were presented to the entrants with each giving a public speech about what Wagga means to them.
Spokesperson for the quest Sonia Pace said this year promised to be one of the biggest ever for the tradition.
"I think it'll be a huge year because the Miss Wagga that is crowned next year will be the 70th woman to be crowned with the prestigious title,” she said.
“It’s a huge milestone for everyone involved and it makes it even bigger.”
Ms Pace added that the group of participants is one of the most diverse yet, with several newcomers to Wagga looking to make a difference.
“They all want to get involved in the community, meet people and fund raise for charities.”
The young women will be mentored and guided until November 2016, when a new Miss Wagga will be crowned.
This year’s entrants are Sarah Navin, Paige Colenso, Angela Lai, Katharine Graham, Jes Smith and Liz Coolee.
