After careful judging, Mr Moorhead’s brew Zestzilla is among the city’s best home brews. Made with an Indian pale ale recipe, it’s Mr Moorhead’s fourth beer that’s he made.
“It was an experiment with a new brand of New Zealand hops, it went through quite a flavour shift in two to four weeks (during fermentation). On paper it’s an IPA but it’s closer to a zesty American amber.”
Creating different tastes in beer is one of the challenges Mr Moorhead relishes.
“IPA is the number one style on the craft market, there’s so many flavours and styles from English malty version to fruitier American West Coast beers.”
Beer DeLuxe hosted Home Brew Heroes to find Wagga’s best local beer.
Joining Mr Moorhead will be Grant Smith with a pale ale and Victorian Damien Carrol, who was awarded Brewers’ Choice for his American amber ale.
The final will be in Melbourne on May 15.
