Everyone has a different theory on how best to turn a starting stack of $1,000 BettaBucks in to a winning mound of fantasy dollars.
In recent weeks it has been those playing the first or last goal scorer markets that have been able to establish a bank and then maintain their lead through the rest of the round.
Our winner from last weekend, who pocketed a cool $2,500 from an out-lay of $20, had a very different approach.
Shayne Nichol had a theory that the second quarter of matches are likely to be the highest scoring of the match.
He applied this to the West Coast and Richmond game, spending his $1,000 BettaBucks at $3.50.
He lost but the beauty of the tournament allows players to re-buy for another $10.
Shayne went again with the second quarter producing the highest score in the Hawthorn and St Kilda match at $3.50 again and won.
His next bet was again the second quarter to be the highest scoring in the Carlton v Western Bulldogs game, he was wrong.
For the Adelaide v Sydney match, he again backed his favourite option and lost but also had $500 on at $1.92 for the total match points to end on an even number.
He then went back to his theory and backed the second quarter to be the highest scoring of the match in three games.
Much to his delight, he was right for all three.
This kicked his bank to $15,470 and placed him at the top of the leaderboard.
Each round $10,000 is on the line, with the winner taking 25 per cent of the pool.
Players can spend their starting stack of $1,000 BettaBucks in anyway they see fit.
The ladder is live throughout the weekend and keeps everyone updated as to where they are positioned.
