The couple met at a dance in 1950, when 16-year-old Muriel, an obsessive sports fan, first laid eyes upon the “tall and handsome”, football-playing Neil.
The couple, who are grandparents and, more recently, great-grandparents, said Valentine’s Day wasn’t usually celebrated in their Estella home, with every day being a celebration of their love for each other.
"Valentine’s Day wasn't a big thing when we were younger, so it's never really been too much of a hassle for us," Muriel said. "I think it's a bit commercialised now and I like to think I show Neil that I love him every day. Even though we still have our differences, love lasts forever.”
