In a win for the Wagga fishing community, Wagga Tackleworld assistant manager Chris Cotterill helped to raise $6000 to buy 10,000 hatchlings from Uarah Fisheries, near Grong Grong.
“Six months ago, we wanted to do a community project and came up with a restocking program,” Mr Cotterill said.
He said he was “over the moon” from the support from the NSW Department of Primary Industries, the community and customers, adding Monday’s restocking will be the first of many.
“I’d like to see my children out here catching these fish in 10 years’ time,” he said.
Mr Cotterill said the community group has its sights set on improving reserves around Wagga.
