The WIN TV station manager has spent years watching his journalists, who are used to life in the spotlight, perform in Wagga Takes 2.
But this year, organisers sunk their teeth into him and he is taking it very seriously.
“I can’t sing but I don’t get nervous about that,” he said.
“I have no problems getting up in front of a crowd of people … but the song is lyrically extremely challenging.
“I think if someone had 10,000 guesses they still couldn’t get it.”
Mr Irvin’s singing partner, Shelley McCormack, is confident they will pull it off.
Even though his song choice is difficult to perfect and he has a few dance moves to learn, Mr Irvin said he is more nervous about raising money for his chosen charity, Country Hope.
He will host a salsa night with Sydney band Salsa Kings on February 26 at the RSL Club.
There are 150 tickets still available from Country Hope on 1800 007 880.
The following morning, Mr Irvin will host a charity bike ride, Ride for Hope, finishing at the William Farrer for a buffet Mediterranean lunch.
Distances range from 200 kilometres, leaving at 5am, or 100 kilometres, leaving at 7am.
