The Colts were bowled out for 169 on Saturday as they try to continue their winning run of form.
Nick Perryman top scored with 33 before becoming one of Kurt Robertson’s five victims.
Robertson has been in hot form with the ball and backed up a five-wicket haul from last week.
After being bowled out in the 62nd over, Kooringal Colts struck twice to have Lake Albert at 2-28.
Colts captain Keenan Hanigan thought the late wickets evened up the contest.
“At the start of the day we wanted someone to make a score and everyone else to be able to build around it and in the end it is probably a par score,” Hanigan said.
“The outfield was really slow and I think we are still in a good position to win the match.”
Hanigan was especially pleased to have sent the dangerous Robertson back to the pavilion after he was adjudged leg before wicket to Marc Vincent.
“We will be doing all we can do to get the eight wickets and getting Kurt Robertson was massive,” he said.
“He got a lot of wickets and we know how damaging he is with the bat, so to get him in the second last over was very crucial.”
Lake Albert’s chances weren’t helped by the early loss of Brett Davies.
Davies was in his fifth over before injuring his hamstring and didn’t play for the rest of the match.
Mat Tom will resume on 17 with Jesse Hampton (3) at the other end.
