The flyer has made the switch to the 15-man game after eight seasons in the NRL, and gets his first opportunity to impress in Wagga.
He’s been named on the wing by Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson and can’t wait to be part of a fresh back line for the Sydney club.
“I’m definitely looking forward to it and I’m excited to have a run with all the boys,” Robinson said.
“I’ve had a big pre-season and I think everyone is excited to have a run.”
Robinson played 116 games in the NRL, 83 with Canberra before playing a season with Parramatta last year.
He was among the Eels’ biggest weapons before deciding to move codes.
Not a stranger to the sport from his days, however he won’t be returning to halfback any time soon.
He’s happy with how the transition has been going so far.
“I’m really enjoying and all the coaches and players have been helping me around the park,” Robinson said.
He labelled rucks and mauls have been the biggest thing to adapt to and has been doing plenty of work on the defensive side of the game.
Robinson is no stranger to Equex Centre, having been part of the Canberra Raiders trial against the Bulldogs in 2012.
However it will be a whole new experience this time around.
Captain Dave Dennis said the 28-year-old had slotted into the Waratahs environment easily.
“It’s been pretty seamless to be honest,” Dennis said.
“He’s got natural footballing ability and obviously did very well in league.
“He’s biggest asset is probably his speed so hopefully we see him in a big of space.
“He’s adapted really well, is a nice fella and I’m sure he’s as excited as anyone to play his first game of rugby in a long time.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes.”
Dennis has stepped into the captain’s role with Michael Hooper rested for the clash.
Dennis has played 92 games for the club and is looking to be a calming influence over the young side.
“We have a lot of young guys who are getting there first opportunity in the Waratahs jersey so I’m sure they will be a little bit nervous and also excited,” Dennis said. “I want to bring a bit of control and calmness to the team and let them know we are out here for the first hit out of the year.
“Obviously we want to play well but not get bogged down in the technical side of things, just get some running in the legs, enjoy yourself and get back to the tackling and all the things that go with rugby.”
