The new pastor at the Inspire Church on Kooringal road started a new job in a new city and welcomed a new baby in the new hospital.
Pastor McMartin is a third-generation pastor and has spent the past 12 years at Inspire Church at Liverpool, which was established by his father more than 30 years ago.
His family hails from the Albury region, where his grandfather was a pastor and all of his seven children worked in the ministry.
“I always had a heart to help people,” Ps McMartin said.
“The only real way to help people is to lead them to Jesus.”
The opportunity to become the lead pastor at Kooringal presented itself last year and Ps McMartin and his wife, Melissa, did not hesitate.
“We felt it was the right thing to do,” he said.
“I’ve always like the country lifestyle.
“It’s a nice environment to raise a family, it’s definitely a different way of life than Sydney. For us, it wasn’t a hard decision.”
The couple, along with their eldest son Toby, 5, welcomed a new addition to the family, Oliver.
Mrs McMartin went into labour the night of Australia Day and Oliver was born at the new Wagga Rural Referral Hospital the next day at 5.30am, the day Toby was due to start his first day at school.
“We were hoping to get into the new hospital,” Ps McMartin said.
