Australia Day 2016: Celebrate safely, cops implore

WAGGA police have implored locals to celebrate safely this Australia Day, as the increase of alcohol and drugs pose a growing danger. Inspector Peter Robertson urged merry-makers to drink responsibly and warned an increased police presence would be on duty across the city. Significant fines apply to trouble-makers. A person faces a $550 fine if they fail to leave a licensed premise, another $550 if they return and a further $500 for anti-social behaviour. Double demerits will also be enforced for traffic offences.
