Two men stole cars and guns from a Mirrool property on Saturday before shooting at the vehicles’ owner and leading police on two dangerous high speed chases.

The pair also stole a number of firearms from the Cross Lane property.
The owner of the two vehicles, a silver Ford sedan and a white 2014 Toyota Hilux ute, saw them drive off the property about 1.20pm on Saturday.
He followed them in his Holden Rodeo and contacted police.
During his pursuit of his stolen vehicles, he was allegedly shot at by the man driving the Toyota Hilux, damaging one of the Holden Rodeo’s windows but leaving him uninjured.
Highway Patrol officers located the Ford sedan burnt out a short time later on the Mid-Western Highway, west of West Wyalong.
Police later caught up with the Toyota Hilux and pursued it before terminating the chase due to safety concerns on the Newell Highway, south of West Wyalong.
The pursuit was re-initiated further south on the Newell Highway between Ardlethan and Grong Grong following another sighting, before the chase was again called off due to its dangerous nature.
Police could not confirm on Sunday whether those events were linked to an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning that saw two men in a ute of involved in a dramatic chase on the Hume Highway and gunfire exchanged from both sides.
In that incident, a Gundagai business was broken into before the offenders were chased by police to Yass, where they were arrested about 3.40am on Sunday.
