Police on Friday confirmed a nine-year-old boy had died after frantic attempts to revive him using CPR failed.
“It appears he was caught up in an awning,” a police spokesman said.
“He was taken to the West Wyalong Hospital, and despite the efforts of his family, police, paramedics and hospital medical staff he could not be revived.”
A crime scene was established, but police believe the youngster’s death was accidental.
“It appears to be just a tragic accident,” the police spokesman said.
Emergency services were called to a property on Goldfields Way about 8pm on Thursday.
Police are investigating the incident and will prepare a report for the coroner.
The boy’s name has not been made public by at this time.
