So he picked up his phone and started planning the skeleton of a song.
What resulted was The World Sang La Marseillaise, a stirring, emotionally charged tribute about the free world uniting to stand as one.
“I wrote the guts of the song in about 15 minutes,” Mr Cochrane said.
“The chorus didn’t come until the next day.
“That was on the back of seeing when they left the Stade de France singing arm-in-arm the national anthem.
“That was the catalyst and emotion, the feeling behind the chorus.”
Enlisting the help of music guru Dale Allison and his harmonious mates, the song was recorded and mixed in four days.
“I bought (the lyrics) to Dale and he said ‘what do you want to do with it?’
“We agreed that people need to hear this.”
The song will soon have a video with hopes it will travel across the world.

The World Sang La Marseillaise
Scott Cochrane
Did you
Did you really think
you could take the heart of Paris.
With your vile and evil.....
wicked upheaval.
Did you
Did you really think
you could break the back of Paris.
Happy to defy you.
United we deny you.
Arm in arm
Stand up, stop crying.
We’ll rise together.
We’ll kneel, not ever
The night they all sang La Marseillaise.
And it echoed all over the world.
With tears in our eyes
Candles flickered in the face of the mourning.
And the free world sang La Marseillaise.
Did you
Did you really think
You could rattle… mighty old Paris
Shoulder to shoulder, we’ll fight you
Stand united just to spite you.
Did you
Did you really think
You could stop the people of Paris
Screamin’ your message in radical rant
Scream all you like, the louder we'll chant.
Arm in arm……..
Stand up, stop crying.
We’ll rise together
We’ll kneel, not ever.
The night they all sang La Marseillaise
And it echoed all over the world.
With tears in our eyes
Candles flickered in the face of the mourning.
And the free world sang La Marseillaise.
Tonight we all sing La Marseillaise.
And it echoes all over the world.
With tears in our eyes
Candles flickered in the face of the mourning.
And the free world sang La Marseillaise.
Tonight we all sing La Marseillaise.
And it echoes all over the world.
With tears in our eyes
Candles flickered in the face of the mourning.
And the free world sang La Marseillaise.
