Bowden Barker was sentenced in the Griffith District Court last Friday after pleading guilty to two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and one of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The charges followed an accident on Petersham Road in December last year that resulted in the deaths of passengers Jake Isbister, 21, of Leeton, and 17-year-old Cootamundra girl Chloe Hardy.
An 18-year-old male was also injured and treated in hospital.
Mr Barker was sentenced to two years and and four months imprisonment for the two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and a further one year and two months for the remaining offence.
He was taken into custody following the handing down of the sentence.
The earliest Mr Barker will be eligible for release will be July 26, 2017. It will be one year on Saturday since the accident occurred.
