While there were no local entrants in the sidecar races, there was plenty of interest in the sport, with between 200-300 spectators at the Wagga International Speedway.
“Sidecars are back in fashion,” Wagga Motorcycle Sport Club spokesman Chris Grentell said.
The race was the last of four in the East Coast series, drawing 30 entrants and 60 competitors to the track.
There were a couple of minor spills, with Mark Burns from Griffith coming off in a collision, but no injuries sustained.
Riders travelled from as far as Queensland and Victoria to take part.
Grant Bond and Glenn Cox from Newcastle took out the event.
The duo forged a lead on the first corner of the final, and widened the gap throughout the three-lap race to end ahead by a convincing margin.
Local riders didn’t miss out altogether, taking part in solo riding events.
