On Thursday, after winning his first ARIA gong as a solo performer, he rose again – and has vowed never to forget his roots.
“Every little bit of growing up I did in Wagga,” he said.
“It’s stood me in great stead … I performed at the Civic Theatre, I was part of the Riverina Conservatorium of Music. I remember it all quite well.”
In his acceptance speech for Best Children’s Album, Moran revealed he struggled to muster the self-belief needed to pursue a solo career.
“You can never guess this sort of thing is going to happen,” he said.
“It was completely unexpected. I’d been up there before and won ARIAs with the Wiggles, but this was just me. It’s great to not ride on somebody else’s coat tails.”
