With a host of key players unavailable, Wagga has chosen to blood the next generation as they look to record with 13th successive O’Farrell Cup victory.
Ryan Price, Mitch Cawley, Will Morley and Matt Tom have been rewarded for good early season form.
Wagga captain Joel Robinson has backed the competition’s depth to shine.
“It’s shown the last couple of years when we’ve had to reach out and use a bit of depth,” Robinson said.
“We’ve found there is more and more quality in our competition and I think there is enough there for Sunday.
“It’s an opportunity too, when we get a couple of our stronger players back available, this is an opportunity for some to try and hold a spot.
“If you look at it, all the guys coming in have been in good form.”
Leeton did not get an opportunity to challenge for the O’Farrell Cup last year and Robinson is unsure what to expect from the visitors.
“They’re an unknown,” he said.
“They’ll be a totally different side to the one we played the year before.
“A couple of them might have been in the Murrumbidgee team we played in the Twenty20 game but there will be a lot of unknowns so we’ll have to make sure we’re on our game so we can start the rep season with a win.”
Robinson said there was still plenty of hunger within the Wagga team despite two undefeated campaigns.
