As part of Oprah’s visit to Australia, Tanya Friend will visit Sydney on December 12 and plans to gift the star her latest book, Breed of Their Own.
It’s been a whirlwind ride for Ms Friend and tops off years’ of unearthing “unique, ordinary Australians” who make up the Riverina and beyond.
The book contains photographs and a quote from 40 older Australians.
“I know Oprah just loves Australians and these are some really unique ones from all walks of life,” Ms Friend said.
“At the moment people just love to read about other people and their stories. I think these characters display such a diversity … I think Oprah will get the true meaning behind it.”
Ms Friend won the opportunity to meet Oprah after entering a competition.
“The book wasn’t meant to be finalised for some time so this has just fast-tracked it,” she said.
“I’ve never been a screaming fan, but I think she is just so inspiring and so giving. People respect Oprah.”
This is Oprah’s second visit to Australia.
