Wagga City Council general manager Alan Eldridge revealed on Wednesday it would have cost $885,000 to bring it up to scratch for Douglas Aerospace’s needs, though that cost may vary based on the needs of its next tenant.
Mayor Rod Kendall said on Thursday the cost of any work needing to be done at the hangar for a new tenant would likely be factored into negotiations over leasing arrangements.
“We will have a look at that with the discussions with the potential tenant and the costs there would be to tenant the building,” he said.
“What the final arrangement is would be subject to those discussions and agreement.”
Council is currently in discussions with a number of interested parties over leasing the hangar following the termination of its agreement with Regional Express last week, though it remained tight-lipped about those negotiations on Thursday.
