The Sydney couple, both 24, flew relatively under the radar until live shows begin, when they found themselves singing for their lives a number of times.
But Australia decided they were worthy of another chance until Tuesday night, when they decided Cyrus would take the title.
Jess & Matt performed on Monday night in a last-ditch effort to win over the public but were the first voted out during Tuesday’s finale.
Their performances of Lay Me Down, their would-be winner’s single Nothing Matters and a reprise of their audition song, Georgia, earned them the praise of all the judges.
Price, who has a strong family connection to Wagga and earned a following from the city’s residents, previously told The Daily Advertiser that he was grateful for the opportunities the show had offered he and Dunbar.
Price said he would like to thank Wagga residents by performing here in the future.
