Decorating hay bales has become an annual tourist attraction in the lead-up to the festival which will be held on Friday, November 27 from 5pm.
This year’s designs include animals, TV characters, a monster truck and Christmas-themed bales.
Laternenfest committee chairman Colin Huf said the hay bales were delivered to the 35 entrants 10 days ago and the deadline for finishing the designs was Monday.
Photos of the bales will be turned into a postcard and the artwork will be on display until the New Year when they will be returned to the farmers for stock feed.
Mr Huf said the hay bale art was a good way of bringing the community together.
“It’s just really taken off,” he said.
The festival will include crafts, stalls, kids rides, maypole dancing, bratwurst barbecue and a lantern parade.
