Olsson has moved back to the Riverina after two years in South Australia and was quick to decide on a return to the Lions, signing with the club on Wednesday night.
Olsson, 24, has spent the past two seasons with South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club Central District, where he managed six league games.
The athletic ruckman battled injuries during both years but managed to string six first grade games in this season before being restricted by a knee injury.
Olsson hopes he will return to GGGM a better footballer.
“Yeah I’ve got a fair bit of experience under my belt now,” Olsson said.
“There is bits and pieces I’ve added to my game that I didn’t have before. Playing footy in the SANFL as the smallest ruckman there, I had to learn a few things.
“Hopefully I’ve picked up a bit than can help change the way I play country footy.”
The signing of Olsson comes shortly after the announcement of Luke Sicker as GGGM’s new coach.
Olsson said it is a great time to return to the Lions as they look to return to finals and beyond in 2016.
“It’s exciting times at the den,” Olsson said.
“With (Sicker) coming on board, and another couple of signings on the way, things are looking pretty good.”
Olsson is a best and fairest winner at GGGM and was the league’s representative ruckman from a young age.
