The event will be held at the 1/19 Royal New South Wales Regiment’s Docker Street depot in Wagga from 7pm.
Company Sergeant Major, Warrant Officer (second class) Ian Mason said a range of military equipment, including assault rifles, machine guns and a Mercedes G-Wagon general service vehicle would be on display.
He said men and women aged 17 to 40 were being sought to join the 53-strong parade at Wagga.
But the unit is also seeking recruits from outside the city.
“We are trying to recruit enough people from Leeton so we can re-open the depot there,” WO2 Mason said.
WO2 Mason said people who were motivated, fit and interested in the outdoors were being sought.
“All we are asking is for people to come in and give us five minutes (on the night),” WO2 Mason said.
“It might be for them; if they are not interested after that, fine, but come down and give it a go.”
He said some of the benefits of joining the Reserves is that the pay is tax free and members do not have to leave their community.
“They stay within the community and all their service can be in their community,” WO2 Mason said.
He said the Reserves were also flexible with work arrangements.
“If they (Reservists) can’t make it to an activity or training because of uni or school exams, for example, we understand that is their commitment,” WO2 said.
If anyone who is interested in the Reserves but can’t attend the open day they can turn up to the regular Tuesday night training between 7pm and 10pm.
