After making her way back to owner Joanne Smith and her husband Brian at The Rock, the bitch was far too good for her rivals in the first of four heats of the Holbrook Vet Centre Sprint Series (400m).
After an early battle for the lead with Teflon Jeff ($6.80), Morello ($2.60 fav) took the ascendancy and never looked like being beaten.
She powered to stop the clock in 23.14 seconds, finishing 3¼ lengths clear of her nearest rival, Teflon Jeff.
Smith thought running the boxes well was one of the keys to the win.
“She had to get a clean run going out of the catching pen or she would have been in trouble,” she said.
The bitch has done most of her racing in Victoria but continued her impressive at Wagga.
She’s now won two of her five starts at the track with another two placings.
It had been five months since her last win at Shepparton and Smith thought the return to easier company helped.
“She’s enjoyed coming home, it’s a bit tougher down there but she did alright while she was there,” she said.
Previously trained at Seymour by Peter Dapiran, Smith is pleased with how she’s come back.
