Green almost sold Angel Of Rock in February but stuck solid and it has paid dividends as Angel Of Rock raced away with the $6500 feature race at the Lockhart Picnics.
Angel Of Rock was almost sold for $1000 in Feburary but has since gone on to win seven races for Green.
“I tried to sell the horse for $1000 in February, I hated him,” Green admitted.
“Since then he’s won seven races so he’s pretty special.
“He's just turned himself right around.”
Angel Of Rock ($4.40) was given a terrific ride by Ricky Blewitt as he burst through a gap in the straight to score by 1½ lengths, in front of $2.70 favourite Bringenbrong and Mr Speaker ($8.00).
Bringenbrong looked to have the race in his keeping, only to drift off the track around the final turn.
Angel Of Rock has now taken out Lockhart’s Verandah Town Cup, to go with wins at Gulargambone, Roma, Tambo, Nyngan, Quilpie and Cootamundra this year.
Green loves the travel and revealed he will now take him to Cranbourne on Friday night for a special picnic feature.
“It’s paid off to do a few miles, the end result is we’re getting winners,” he said.
“We’ll go to Cranbourne next Friday night and he’ll represent Lockhart down there in the invitation picnic race and no doubt they’ll talk about how this horse just won the Lockhart Cup.”
