The husband and wife team will compete in the Hume and Hovell Ultra Marathon next Saturday.
The Claydens will take on the 50km version of the event.
They only have one goal for the event.
“Just to get there in the end before it gets too dark,” Brad said.
The Wagga Road Runners event has two courses through the picturesque Hume and Hovell Walking Trail, which extends some 440 kilometres from Yass to Albury.
The Claydens believe the 50km track will be more than tough enough.
“It’s through the bush, there is some pretty big hills and it is going to be a bit hotter,” Brad said.
After taking up running in November both have one successful marathon under their belts but face their biggest test yet in the undulating terrain.
They train together and are currently doing around 70km on the road each week in preparation.
After re-breaking her arm in her last marathon attempt, Kerri has just got her cast off and is determined to show her best this time.
A fall during in the Wagga Trail Marathon in August could have ended Kerri’s ambition but despite the pain she battled through to the finish line.
“I’ve actually run the majority of the year with a broken arm,” Kerri said.
“I fell over in the Nail Can Run in the beginning of May and fell over again in the Wagga Trail Marathon and broke it again.
“The Wagga Trail Marathon ended up taking me over five hours because I broke it and kept going so this one for me is because I never really did it properly, because of my fall.”
However Brad has other motives.
“I’m coming to make sure she doesn’t die,” he said.
The pair ran their last marathon separately but this time they plan to run the whole distance together.
“We will run together in this one but the marathon we didn’t,” Brad said.
“I took off then she fell over and broke her arm and I felt bad about that.”
This time last year the pair never would have dreamed of taking on such a feat.
However they’ve both fallen in love with running.
“Last year, when we first started running, Peter my next door neighbour, done the Wagga Trail Marathon as I said ‘mates you’re absolutely nuts, who runs that far?’ as we had just run 4k and it was like that’s just crazy crap,” Kerri said.
“Around the time they were doing the Hume and Hovell that was unreal and I though maybe in a few years time I might be able to do that.
“It was always in the back of mind and I just got it in my head.”
Kerri is running for the One Girl charity which supports girls education in Sierra Leone.
