Lockhart will come to life this weekend with the annual picnic races Friday and Spirit of the Land (SOL) Festival Saturday and Sunday. The races will welcome punters from noon with the first race at 1.30pm.

SOL is an annual festival based around metal sculptures created using recycled metal. This year will see around 60 sculptures on display created by various artists including seven who are new to the event.
The main street of the Verandah Town is closed and transformed to a charming market setting. Almost 90 stalls will line the street and local shops will also operate.
President of the Spirit of the Land Committee Liz Pertzel said everything is coming together for the event.
“It’s a community effort, so many people help to get it up and running,” Ms Pertzel said.
SOL opens at 9am Saturday with an entry fee of $5.
