At 7.25pm, Mr Hunt waved goodbye to his wife’s personal carer Lorraine Bourke with a “Goodbye Laine, thanks, see you tomorrow”.
Five minutes later, he told his brother Allen in a telephone conversation he would attend a grain marketing meeting the next day. But sometime after the phone conversation, the evidence points to things deterioriating so drastically and quickly in Mr Hunt’s life that he killed the ones he loved most.
In her opening address, counsel assisting the inquest, Dr Peggy Dwyer, told coroner Michael Barnes she did not anticipate him hearing evidence any individual predicted the events of September 9.
