Rob Brown passed away in the early hours of last Thursday October 1.

His cause of death remains unknown.

Rob was just 35 years old had spent the previous day playing golf with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kieren, and their two sons.

The family moved to Cootamundra three years ago when Rob took up a teaching position at Cootamundra High School.

Affectionately known as “Browny” by students, the keen science teacher soon earned the respect of students and colleagues alike.

In reacting to the sad news on Facebook, outgoing vice-captain Mikayla Large said Cootamundra High School Class of 2015 will make Rob proud in the Higher School Certificate exams.

“The faith and hard work you have put into us over the past 24 months as well as the wise words to always study will pay off,” Mikayla said.

This year Rob was appointed acting deputy principal.

Although it took him away from his love of teaching, it was a position he excelled in.

Rob was also well known in the community for his time spent with the Tricolours rugby union team.

Justin Roberts had the privilege of coaching Rob in second grade two years ago.

“He was a very good footballer, old and experienced,” Justin said.

“He was absolutely besotted by football.

“You could always bounce things off him, he was very passionate.”

Justin said Rob’s passing has come as a dreadful shock to the whole club.

“I was hoping to play old boys with him, we talked about it a lot.”

Justin fondly recalls a joke he and Rob used to share.

“Once you grow up in the front row you stay in the front row,” Rob told him.

Justin and the entire club express their sympathy to Rob’s family.
