Breust is part of a strong Riverina contingent in the Hawthorn team that will be chasing a third consecutive premiership when they take on West Coast at the MCG.
Breust has evolved into one of the AFL’s elite small forwards and will be one man the Eagles look to shut down in the decider.
The Hawks can etch their name into history with an AFL premiership three-peat and while it is far from being Bruest’s focus right now, he admits just the thought of it is something special.
“You don’t try to focus on that at the moment but obviously after the game, if we have won, the three peat or whatever they’re calling it, it would mean the world I guess,” Breust said.
“It’s what everyone plays for, to make grand finals and win grand finals, let alone win three in a row, it would be an unbelievable feeling.
“I’ve just been so lucky to go to such a great club and a great group of guys to come to and experience the success that we have.”
Breust has enjoyed grand final so far and everything that comes with it.
“It’s probably one of the best weeks of your life I think,” he said.
“It’s real different, the things you have to go through this week with the Brownlow Monday night, the parade (on Friday) and obviously big attendance at training.
“It’s an exciting week, lucky for us we’ve been able to experience it a couple of times and it doesn’t get any better.
“It’s just a great week to embrace everything, get around your teammates and know all the hard work you put in since day one of pre-season has now paid off to get a chance at a premiership.”
West Coast beat Hawthorn in the qualifying final, but the Hawks have bounced back strongly with wins over Adelaide and Fremantle in the past fortnight.
Breust is confident the Hawks can get the job done.
“We had a wake up call a few weeks ago against West Coast, I guess that put us on edge a little bit against Adelaide and Fremantle,” he said.
“I think if we can bring that intent, just a good attitude to work hard and work hard for each other then hopefully the result takes care of itself.”
With six goals against Adelaide two weeks ago, Breust will go into Saturday in form.
“It’s been nice to get back into some form over the last two weeks,” he said.
“I’ll just look to play my role on Saturday and hopefully snag a couple of goals.”
