And among the throng of local scouts set to attend January’s Australian Jamboree in Sydney are six young men from First Scouts Kooringal.
To help them get there, Kooringal Scouts will host a fundraiser on Sunday at Wagga Botanic Gardens.
Wagga’s Society of Model Engineers will donate the takings from its miniature trains on Father’s Day to help the scouts.
Kooringal Scout leader Carl Woldseth said the group was grateful for the help of the train buffs.
The scouts will host a barbecue and cake stall on the day to assist the fundraising. The 2016 Jamboree is the 24th Jamboree, where over 12,000 scouts will converge on a park in Sydney to camp.
