“After the high we’ve been on the last couple of weeks, to get beaten like that, it’s just shattering,” Carroll said.
“They were way too good for us, their run just burnt us and we crucified ourselves with delivery into the forward line.
“We just weren’t good enough.”
The coach gave credit to North Wagga saying they played “a good brand of footy”.
The Blues were again lamenting poor kicking, with their hopes of a comeback cruelled by missed opportunities, but Carroll was pleased with the efforts of Graeme O’Connell, Wes Kiley and Drew Kenna.
Carroll’s two years in charge at Coleambally both ended in the second week of finals but he said he was proud of his players for refusing to give up on their season this year.
“Five weeks ago it was curtains for us but we come back and beat The Rock and won those couple of games against Temora,” he said.
Carroll is yet to make a decision on where he’ll play next season but said he’s loved being a part of the Blues.
“It’s a real tight-knit group, that’s the most pleasing thing.
“There’s a few of us from out of town but it feels like we’re locals anyway the way the club supports you.
“It’s just a good joint.”
