Hart’s team, comprised of the best four runners from NSW, won the bronze medal.
The state champion was proud of his efforts and grateful for the experience.
It was a daunting affair; opening ceremony and two false starts added to the tension of the 3km event.
“Coming into it he was very, very nervous, because you’re racing the best in Australia,” Hamish’s mum Jenny said.
Supported by a great cheer squad, Hart’s mum, dad and grandmother travelled to Melbourne for the race.
Hart will also run for NSW in the relay on Monday.
