The construction of the new Wagga hospital and new services cropping up in and around Calvary have created a parking migraine for residents, patients and visitors. Craig Hesketh, a long-time local health advocate, said it beggared belief the situation was allowed to occur.
“It’s a real mess and I’m concerned not a lot of thought was given to parking,” Mr Hesketh said. “There’s no consideration given to people visiting patients in palliative care. Do we really want to force elderly people to walk a kilometre from their car?”
He said the state government should look at buying properties near Calvary and building a car park. Semi-privatisation of health services was exacerbating the problem, he said.
