Two men narrowly escaped serious injury when a Ford F150 4X4 truck rolled into the water at Bermagui boat ramp, floated into the middle of the harbour and sank on Thursday morning.

Owner of the Ford, 78-year-old Lindsay Steffan and his friend Colin Bennett of Wagga were unloading a small tinnie from the roof of the truck when they heard a horn blast loudly from the headland.
When they looked around they saw the truck rolling down the ramp towards them and they quickly jumped out of the way.
The vehicle rolled into the water then floated out into the middle of Bermagui Harbour where it sank under the murky water.
“It was lucky someone tooted their horn or we may have been killed,” Mr Bennett said.
Mr Steffan got on the phone to his insurance company and was making arrangements to salvage the vehicle.
It is believed that local abalone diver Steve Vickers was organising to dive down and secure ropes to the vehicle so it could be pulled out of the harbour.
“There have been a lot of incidents on this boat ramp over the years’” Mr Vickers said.
“I’ve seen a lot of cars go in the water over the years,” another bystander said.
