Hawks lose another star to injury

East Wagga-Kooringal have had a second serious setback with midfielder, Stuart Brierty, suffering a suspected broken collarbone.

Brierty had been best on ground as the Hawks performed a demolition job on CSU but ended up spending Saturday night in casualty.

“He’s sore and waiting on an X-ray, but it’s pretty certain,” said Hawks coach Gavin McMahon.

On the back of last week’s Achilles injury to Ben Absolum, the flag favourites now face the possibility of an entire finals campaign without two of their best.

“I’ve reminded our boys, you can’t take anything for granted in this game,” McMahon said.

“You’re entitled to nothing except what you earn.”

EWK were runners-up to Temora last year.
