More than 100 entrants from as far as Western Australia and as near as Wagga have gathered for the three-day event, which will wrap up on Sunday.
“There’s a lot of prestige in winning the state titles and with that prestige you get the best competition," NSW Clay Target Association executive Janene Schiller said.
The most competitive shooters will be hoping for results that land them in the state team.
National and state champions and novices will stand alongside one another in the handicap event; a thrill particularly for the rookies.
Some participants have benefited from the expertise of US shooting guru John Shima, who has been offering free tutoring at the event.
While organisers and participants hope for blue skies on the weekend, light rain has not put too much of a dampener on the event.
“We shoot in all conditions,” Schiller said.
