Wagga High’s opens girls team progressed through to the state final where they ran out 17-10 winners over Hunter Sports High.
The under 16s girls team also performed strongly to finish in third position.
Wagga High coach Steve Sargeant said it was big effort by the girls.
“It’s really a fantastic achievement,” he said.
“It’s a really tough competition to win against top quality opposition and my girls played fantastic all day.
“They were primed for the final and they came out and had a red hot go, their defensive effort was fantastic.”
Sarah Hogan was a standout for Wagga High, while Holly Stephens and Amy Fowler were others to shine.
The under 16 team lost their semi-final 25-5 to Warialda, then scored first in the 10-all draw with Wauchope High in the play-off for third place.
