If you are an amateur comedian looking for your 15 minutes of fame, Dane Simpson wants to hear from you.
He is hosting the first Wagga Comedy Club event this weekend and is looking for local acts to join comedian Geraldine Hickey.
Geraldine Hickey will be the club’s inaugural event’s main act but Mr Simpson is hoping the open mic component will help to breed a class of comedians in the city.
“I’m looking for five minutes but if telling one joke makes people happy then I’m good with that,” he said.
“I just really want to encourage people to get involved.
“I’m super keen, I’m so excited.”
Mr Simpson has been working on establishing a comedy club in Wagga for months after his own recent successes on the stage.
The first event will be held on August 9 from 5pm for $15 at The Birdhouse.
Funds will go towards hosting future events, which will be held on the first Sunday of each month at the same venue.
Mr Simpson said he would like to run through the acts with people performing in the open mic section and provide assistance to newcomers.
To register to perform in the event, contact Mr Simpson through his Facebook page Dane Simpson – Comedian.
