The procession, which marched up Baylis Street to the Civic Centre on Tuesday, is usually held in conjunction with university graduations but this year was timed to coincide with Education Week.
The Town and Gown Procession has been held in Wagga since 2005, though it was cancelled last year due to inclement weather.
“CSU is proud of the role it plays in training professionals for rural and regional Australia and the contribution this makes to our local community,” head of Wagga campus Miriam Dayhew said.
“The Town and Gown Procession is an opportunity to celebrate and to highlight the wealth of opportunities for young people to be educated and trained locally.”
In recent years the procession has been hit by misfortune, with the 2013 and 2014 events both cancelled due to inclement weather.
Rain threatened the parade for much of the day on Tuesday but fortunately held off, though those participating made sure they rugged up due to the cold conditions.
Since the event’s inception, the parade has grown to involve numerous other teaching, vocational training, learning and research organisations.
